Our life with Labradors began on February 20, 2022 when our black lab mix, Miss Thelma Sue, gave birth to 10 puppies in Homer, Alaska. The puppies were an unexpected surprise to both mama Thelma and her humans. The final count was: 5 boys (3 black, 1 yellow, and 1 chocolate) and 5 girls (1 golden, 3 yellow, and 1 Dudley).
As we cared for the newborns and their nursing mama, the learning curve was steep. Looking after 10 newborn puppies and their year old mom is no joke! We started with Instagram posts to keep family and friends updated and to share the cute side of puppy life.
After keeping two of the puppies in the family, we decided to start a website to share what we had learned and continue to learn about Labradors. Buster & Lily were inseparable from birth. For whatever reason, the other pups picked on them and they created a strong bond. Buster, the only chocolate, loves to play ball and chew on his toys. Lily, a yellow female, was the last born and the smallest of the bunch. She enjoys her treats and playing in water. She is the boss of the pair.
We are now fully immersed in The Labrador Life. Our blogs are based on real-life experiences and we invite our fellow Lab owners to share their stories. We hope to be your online resource for all things Labrador!
